SRD Grant vs R350 Grant: What’s the Difference?
Is there a difference between the SRD and R350 grants? The answer is simple: there is no difference! Both names refer to the same grant introduced to help unemployed individuals affected by the COVID-19 lockdowns in South Africa.
The official name is the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant, but it’s commonly called the R350 grant because of its monthly value of R350 until it was increased recently.
This grant was initially introduced to assist during the lockdowns. Still, the government has extended it until March 2024 as part of the Social Assistance Act to continue supporting needy citizens.
