Application complete: this means you have completed the reapplication reapplication process and will receive your SRD R350 grant every month.

Bank details pending: your application or reapplication was received, but you did not submit your banking details or payment preference (do you want to be paid into your bank account or via cash send). 

Reapplication is pending: this means SASSA has NOT received your reapplication. You must submit your SRD application. 

Period (e.g., January) Pending: this means your reapplication reapplication was received, and SASSA is busy verifying your application

How to Find My SASSA Application ID

To change your details in SRD, you must know your application ID to complete the process. The steps below will direct you on how to check your application ID;

  • Scroll down to the section that says “Application status.”
  • Select the yellow bar that reads “Click here to check online.”
  • Now, enter your South African ID number and the cellphone number you used when filling out the SRD R350 application.

How Can I Change My Details In SRD?

Suppose you are a beneficiary of the South African Social Security Agency’s SRD R350 grant and want to change your name due to changes in your life or a mistake you made when filing your R350 grant form. In that case, there is a way to change or correct that on the SASSA website. Follow the steps below;

  • Visit the SASSA website  
  • Scroll down to the section that says Request Names and Surname Update
  • Below the section, fill in your South African ID number, name, and surname
  • Now click on the “submit” button to forward your details to SASSA

It should be noted that if the names and surnames you provide do not match what the Department of Home Affairs has, your details will not be updated, leading to your application being denied.

If you are a current beneficiary of the SASSA SRD R350 grant and you wish to change your contact details for some reason, you can do so on the SASSA website by following the steps below;

  • After this, choose the reason for changing your cell phone number or email 
  • Now enter the one-time pin that will be sent to the new number via SMS and click submit

How Long Does It Take To Update SASSA R350 Personal Details?

There is no set time frame or date regarding how long your details will be updated. The South African Social Security Agency authenticates your details monthly with the Department of Home Affairs. If the details do not match, then your application will be declined.

After you have been declined, you can apply for reconsideration within 30 days of receiving the reason for being rejected. This can also be done via the SASSA website in the “Appealing” section.

Can I Recover My Canceled R350 Grant Application?

Yes, you can. This process of recovering your cancelled R350 application is called reinstatement. It can be done via the SASSA website by following the steps below;

  • Visit the SASSA website. 
  • Scroll down the page till you find the section “Reinstate me cancelled Application.”
  • Select the yellow bar that reads “Click here to reinstate online.”
  • Insert your South African ID number and mobile number in the fields required
  • Click on the “send pin” button. 
  • You will then receive an SMS containing a one-time pin 
  • Fill in the pin and click on the” verify pin” button 
  • Now, choose a reason why you are reinstating your application. An example is that you no longer receive income.
  • A message will then ask if you still want to reinstate your grant application.
  • Reply to the message by saying Yes if you’re going to reinstate and No if you do not wish to reinstate.

Requirements for SRD R350 Grant Application 2024

To qualify for the 2024 SRD R350 grant, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a South African citizen, permanent resident, asylum seeker, or special permit holder
  • Be between the ages of 18 and 59
  • Have a monthly income of no more than R624
  • Be unemployed
  • Not receive any other financial assistance
  • Not receive any social grants like NSFAS
  • Not have any unemployment insurance benefits

There are four methods through which you can check your R350 balance. Many prefer to use ATMs or SASSA grant cards to determine how much money they have received.

However, it is not recommended to be used often by the organization for safety reasons.

1.   The official Whatsapp number of the SASSA is 082 046 8553.

2.   Add the number to your contacts list first.

3.   Type and send “SASSA” to this number.

4.   You will start receiving some questions in response to them and must answer them accordingly.

5.   Then text “Status” and afterwards message “yes” to the number.

6.   Send the reference number on your card, and you will get the information you need in the form of a message.

Checking R350 Balance Via Mobile Phone

  • Go to the dial on your phone.
  • Dial the USSD code on your mobile.
  • You will be asked a preset series of questions that you will have to answer as a beneficiary.
  • You will receive an SMS with the information you need by the end.

A beneficiary can apply two USSD codes while checking their R350 grant balance. These two codes can allow you to find your balance quickly. You have to dial any of the codes *120*32,1whichnd *120*69277#.

These codes will lead you to a series of prompts, and you must follow every single step to get the information about your R350 balance via text.

How do you check your SASSA balance through *130*?

Please note that there is no way to check the SASSA balance using *130*. This code doesn’t work, though many websites have mentioned it, but it doesn’t work. The only way to check it is through the USSD codes discussed above.

Checking R350 Balance Via ATM Card

  • Go to your nearby ATM.
  • Insert your SASSA Grant Card into the machine.
  • You will be asked for your ATM PIN code.
  • Once you have entered the correct PIN, the machine will proceed to the next step.
  • Now, you must select the option of “Balance inquiry.”
  • Now, you have been asked whether you require a receipt or not.
  • If you select no, the amount will be displayed on the screen, and if you choose yes, the amount will be mentioned on the receipt.

With any of these methods, you can check your balance, and after that, you can collect your grant.

How do I check Sassa’s balance without airtime?

To check your SASSA (South African Social Security Agency) balance without airtime, you can use the following methods:

 1. USSD: Dial 1203210# on your mobile phone and follow the prompts to check your SASSA balance. This service is free and available 24/7.

 2. SASSA website: Visit the SASSA website at www.sassa.gov.za and log in to your account to check your balance.

 3. SASSA office: You can also visit an SASSA office and request to check your balance. You will need to bring your ID and SASSA card with you.

 It’s important to note that you must have an active SASSA account and a SASSA card to use any of these methods.

How do I check the SASSA balance for R350 at the post office?

To check your SASSA R350 grant balance at a post office, you can follow these steps:

 1. Visit your nearest post office.

 2. Go to the post office counter and present your SASSA card and ID.

 3. Ask the teller to check your SASSA R350 grant balance.

 4. The teller will use their system to check your balance and inform you of the available balance.

SASSA R350 Grant Extended for March 2025

Will the SRD R350 Grant be extended until March 2025? The government extended the SRD R350 Grant until March 2025 with a budget of R34 billion to continue supporting individuals who rely on it for their basic needs. The extension was announced in the National Treasury’s Medium-Term Budget Policy in November 2023.

SRD R350 Grant is Increased to R370

The SRD grant increase announcement was made on Wednesday, 13 March 2024, by Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana. Commonly referred to as the R350 grant due to its monetary value, the beneficiaries of the SRD grant will begin receiving R370 from 1 April 2024.

R350 grant will be increased by R20 or 5.7%.

How to Change Banking Details on My SASSA Status Check?

If you want to change your existing banking, follow the process above.

1. Go to the SASSA SRD website at srd.sassa.gov.za.

2. Select the “How do I change my banking details” section

3. Enter your South African ID number

4. An SMS will then be sent to you containing the SASSA banking details link

5. You can open the banking details link from the SMS and follow the instructions to change your bank details.

Add/Update SRD Banking Details

Follow these steps and upgrade your payment details in any way.

  • The first step for changing the banking details is to open the official website of SASSA, which is srd.sassa.gov.za
  • Once you open its website, click the “How to change my banking details?” option.
  • After clicking the above option, a required field to add your ID number appears on the screen.
  • All you need to do is add the correct ID number and recheck before submitting.
  • Upon submitting the ID number, you will receive an SMS with a secure link to the phone number you added when setting up your account.
  • Once received, you should open the SMS and follow all the instructions.
  • The instructions in the SMS will lead you to change your banking details.

How to Cancel My SRD Application?

Follow these steps to cancel your application

Go to the SASSA: srd.sassa.gov.za/

⦁   Please scroll down to the Cancel My Application tab.

⦁   Click on the yellow bar that says ‘click here to cancel online’.

⦁   Provide your ID and mobile numbers, then click ‘send pin’.

⦁   You will receive an SMS with a 6-digit One Time Pin (OTP) number.

⦁   To verify the pin, the client must insert the OTP number on the required field.

⦁   Then click ‘cancel my grant’.

⦁  A message will pop up asking if the applicant is sure about cancelling the grant.

⦁   Click yes to continue with the cancellation, or click no to discard.

How to Reinstate My Cancelled SRD Application?

Filing for SASSA reconsideration/reapplication reapplication is similar to filling for the new R350 application. As Paseka Letsatsi, the head of the communications committee at SASSA, said, it is now required.

Before applying, make sure you fulfil all the requirements. In the meantime, you haven’t used for any other grant by the government.

To reapply,

  • Open the SASSA Appeal Website
  • Enter your mobile number
  • You will receive a one-time pin (OTP)
  • Enter it here
  • Reply to all required details asked
  • Click on Submit

However, once you appeal for reconsideration, you will have to check the status of your appeal.

SASSA Grant Eligibility Requirements

Each grant has a specific list of requirements to qualify for funding through SASSA. They are as follows: 

Old Persons grant:

  • Must be a South African citizen/ permanent resident/ refugee
  • Must be a resident of South Africa
  • Must be at least 60 years old

  • Must not be maintained/ cared for in a State Institution
  • Must not be receiving any other social grant

Disability grant:

  • Must be a South African citizen/ permanent resident/ refugee

One of the aims of the Child Support grant is to ensure that the children attend adequate schooling; as such, the school enrollment certificate must be produced for children between the ages of 7 and 18 years old

Grant-in-aid:
